Friends of Mothers Initiative Ltd was founded in 2015 as a Community Based Organization (CBO) and incorporated in 2017 as a limited company by guarantee with an aim of empowering communities for sustainable development through economic empowerment and environmental conservation. 

Friends of Mothers Initiative Ltd is a fair trade Certified under FLOID 40388 and organic certified coffee producing and exporter organisation. FMI Ltd is located on the slopes of Mt. Elgon and has 50 farmers with a production capacity of 504,591kg of exportable grade coffee.

We are also involved in the implementing clean energy project which involves the distribution of improved energy efficient cooking stoves to rural and urban households around Mt. Elgon region with a purpose of reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere and conserving the environment

To achieve all the above, FMI Ltd has a self motivated, skilled and dedicated staff to ensure the successful implementation of the projects.


PROJECTS

AGRI-BUSSINESS

Friends of Mothers Initiative Ltd is a fair trade and organic certified coffee producing organisation with an aim of exporting. FMI Ltd is located on the slopes of Mt. Elgon and has 50 farmers with a production capacity of 504,591kg of exportable grade coffee. 

FMI Ltd is boosting the agriculture sector to offer opportunities for growth, raising earnings and transforming lives of the farming communities through increasing productivity, providing marketing linkage and other support services to farmers .

CLEAN ENERGY PROJECT
Clean energy project is an Efficient Cook Stove Programme that involves the distribution of improved domestic fuel-efficient cooking stoves to rural and semi-urban households in Mbale with a purpose of reducing carbon. 
Stoves are distributed free-of-charge to users in exchange for the rights to the generated emissions reductions. Revenues from the sale of emission reductions are used to fund installation of the cookstoves, cover the cost of the stove and provide on-going maintenance services.
EDUCATION SPONSORSHIP

FMI Ltd has made remarkable contribution in the education of children by supporting children in vulnerable situations to enroll in school and acquire basic education and skills. 

Vulnerable children from the surrounding communities are supported. Beneficiary children are provided with scholastic materials and other costs of education.
